Arrowtown RSA ANZAC Service

‘LEST WE FORGET’ Join the RSA and local community groups for the ANZAC Day commemoration service, followed by a laying of wreaths. This will be held at the Cenotaph on Soldiers Hill, Durham Street. Parade to assemble at Athenaeum Hall at 10am for commencement of the service at the Cenotaph at 10.30am. All welcome.  Wet weather venue – Arrowtown Athenaeum Hall.

The Great Scarecrow Trail

Come and walk the great scarecrow trail through the picturesque streets of Arrowtown. Purchase your map ($10) in Buckingham Green and follow the trail, find the scarecrows and guess what they are based on – this year’s theme is “Off to the Movies!” Prizes for the winners.  Maps available Thursday 25 April, 1-4pm; Friday 26 April, 10am-3pm; Saturday 27 April, 9am-12pm. All proceeds will go directly to the local Queenstown Junior Cricket Club.  Businesses are welcome to sponsor a scarecrow for $100 (cash or contra prizes). Creative Queenstown – Land of the Long Long Drive

A classic road story with a kiwi twist! Wētā, Tuna and Kārearea are mates of Gary the Glowworm, and are travelling to attend his rave in the cave birthday party. The friends face a number of trials on the road, and learn that despite their differences, they can achieve their goals by working together! A tale for Kiwi kids, featuring iconic NZ creatures, landscapes and fresh waiata by NZ singer-songwriter Benny Tipene. Winner of the 3–8-year-old section of Playmarket’s Plays for the Young Competition, Land of the Long Long Drive brings you a laugh out loud, inspiring adventure of three unlikely heroes. This show jumps into life with beautiful costumes from Gridley by Victoria, Costumier for the Royal New Zealand Ballet, and support from Capital E National Theatre for Children through their Creative Residency programme. $10 general admission tickets – Adults and Children.
